How did you hear about the book challenge in our community and why did you take action?

I am involved in the banned books club in my school. Levi Told me about the issue, so the book club decided to read Persepolis.

You can get books at the library or store; why should we care about a book being removed from one class of students or one community?

Books that are banned are often the most important to read. The fact that people ban them implies that there is something to hide from society, which begs the question--what’s being hidden from us?

Why do you think being aware of book challenges or bans is important to our country today?

See above--people need to be aware of the censorship that’s occurring in their society.

Who inspires you? Who is your hero?

My former teacher, Ms. Applequist, and my favorite writer, Tamora Pierce.
