The American Library Association (ALA), the worlds largest and oldest library association, provides ideas and resources on how your library can participate in the annual celebraton of the freedom to read as well detailed instructions on how your library can participate in the Banned Books Virtual Read-Out. ALA also provides information on frequently challenged books over the years, including the top ten most frequently challenged books lists since 2001.
ALA also helps librarians facing actual or possible challenges to library materials, services, and programs. Check out challenges to library materials for information. Other organizations that can help librarians facing challenges are the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and the National Coalition Against Censorship. Both organizations can write letters of support.
