Every year, bookstores, libraries, universities, and organizations host engaging programs that spotlight censorship. Are you hosting an event for Banned Books Week? Putting up a display? Let us know about it, and we’ll share it here for the world to find!
If you are organizing a virtual event, choose “Virtual Event” for the venue. If it is an in-person event, please provide complete address and time information, as well as contact information so we can send queries for clarification. Otherwise, we cannot guarantee your event will display correctly. Thank you!

Censorship Divides Us. Books Unite Us!
Banned Books Week (September 26 – October 2) is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in schools, bookstores and libraries, this celebration is typically held during the last week of September and highlights the value of free and open access to information.
Celebrate Banned Books Week with us by checking out a challenged or banned book from our Blind Date with a Banned Book display on our first floor, or visit our table at Market Day (Wednesday, September 29) to learn more.
