Books Unite Us Censorship Divides Us @ Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries

October 1, 2023 - October 7, 2023

All 37 Buffalo & Erie County (NY) Public Libraries are participating in a community awareness and informational campaign beginning with Banned Books Week.
To help spread the word about the increasing number of book challenges, Libraries are offering special edition freedom to read library cards for those who live, work or attend school in Erie County. Related programs, speakers and
displays are planned to inform the community about the harms of censorship in public libraries and schools.

Libraries are also giving away limited edition “freedom to read” tote bags, bracelets, stickers and buttons.
